LONELINESS

How many friends
does a man need
to never feel alone,
to never fall asleep?

Loneliness
filling our heart,
shining a light
into the bottomless pit
that harbors our fears,
our insecurities,
our human imperfection,
and shows that
not all is lost,
in the desperate path
to companionship.

How many souls
does a woman need
to never feel alone,
never fall asleep?
